On 5th and 6th December 2019, an International Conference, organized by JSPS Alumni Association of the Philippines (JAAP) themed “Science and Technology at the Forefront of Industry 4.0” was held at Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo in Iloilo, the Philippines.

The conference was opened by welcome address by Dr. Renato G. Reyes, President of JAAP. Then, the following 3 distinguished guests gave congratulatory speeches.

Afterward, 2 Japanese speakers delivered plenary talk.

In the speech, titled “PARASITIC DISEASES IN MARINE FINFISH AQUACULTURE; Past, Present and Future”, Dr. Sho Shirakashi, Associate Professor, Kindai University Aquaculture Research Institute talked about the study on control methods of fish parasites in saltwater aquaculture.

Dr. Shin-ya Nishizaki, Professor, Tokyo Institute of Technology introduced history about study on machine Reasoning and the recent trends in the research area, under the tile ” Machine Reasoning Symbolic Aspect of Artificial Intelligence”

In the afternoon, researchers from the Philippines made plesentations along with the conference theme. And also Prof. Kuniaki Yamashita, Director, JSPS Bangkok office introduced JSPS’s International programs.

There were about 100 attendees including many young researchers.
During the conference, poster presentation was also held at the same venue.
