On 18 May 2018, the JSPS Bangkok Office organized JSPS guidance seminar at Chiang Mai University (CMU). CMU, founded in 1964, is known as the first institution of higher education in northern Thailand.
Prior to the seminar, we made a courtesy visit to Assoc. Prof. Piyapong Niamsup, Acting Assistant to the President for Academic Affairs. We shared information regarding the selection of the Bilateral Programs in recent years.
The seminar began with the opening remarks by Assoc. Prof. Avorn Opatpatanakit, Acting Vice President for Social Engagement. Prof. Yamashita, Director of JSPS Bangkok office, expressed his gratitude for holding the seminar.
In the presentation, Mr. Tomiyama, Deputy Director, introduced JSPS’s outline followed by the introduction of various international programs by Mr. Niihara and Ms. Minowa, International Program Associates.
Afterwards, we had two special speeches by Dr. Dr. Phonpat Hemwan (Lecturer, Faculty of Social Sciences of CMU, who obtained Ph.D. under RONPAKU program) and Dr. Phisit Seesuriyachan (Associate Professor, Faculty of Agro-Industry of CMU, who is currently involved with the Core to Core program).
We believe that their speeches were quite useful for the audience to understand JSPS programs. We appreciate the wonderful two speakers!
