On 27 June, JSPS Bangkok Office organized a JSPS guidance seminar at Burapha University that is a national university located in Chonburi Province in southeastern Thailand. The university has 3 campuses with 30 departments and 40,000 students. It is also enthusiastically promoting its globalization, while it has a history of more than 60-year-old since it used to be a specialized educational school.
Before the seminar, we made a courtesy visit to Asst. Prof. Witawat Jangiam, Acting Assistant President of the university.
The seminar started with an opening address by Asst. Prof. Witawat, followed by the presentation of JSPS’s outline by Prof. Kuniaki Yamashita, Director of JSPS Bangkok Office, and the introduction of its international programs by Ms. Noriko Furuya, Deputy Director, and Mr. Toshio Ohta, International Program Associate.
Some participants who have experience in applying for “JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Overseas Researchers” talked about their own experience such as preparation for the application and importance of consulting with Japanese host researcher in advance. Some 50 researchers joined in this seminar despite the first-ever seminar at Burapha University, and that brought an active discussion to the seminar.
