JSPS guidance seminar at Phayathai Campus, Mahidol University

On 7 July, JSPS Bangkok Office organized a JSPS guidance seminar at Phayathai Campus, Mahidol University. The university is one of the leading national universities in Thailand, and it was ranked the top among Thai universities in the latest Asia University Ranking compiled by Times Higher Education and also ranked the second in the latest one by Quacquarelli Symons Ltd.. In addition, the university is involved in several JSPS international projects and strongly promoting academic exchange with Japan.
First of all, Assist. Prof. Tanakorn Osotchan, Deputy Dean for Research Faculty of Science, who joined in the collaborative research with Japanese university based on JSPS’s bilateral programs, gave an opening address. And then Prof. Kuniaki Yamashita, Director of JSPS Bangkok Office, explained JSPS’s outline, followed by the introduction of its international programs by Ms. Noriko Furuya, Deputy Director, and Mr. Toshio Ohta, International Program Associate.

The last speaker was Dr. Kittiphong Paiboonsukwong, a member of JSPS Alumni Association of Thailand. Dr. Kittiphong, who has experienced in research at Saitama Medical University as a JSPS post-doctoral fellow, explained about research activities and life in Japan with humor.

More than 80 young and mid-career researchers, participated in the seminar. Therefore, we received many questions about Bilateral Programs and Core-to-Core Program during Q&A session. Some of them individually asked us questions even after the seminar and shown a high interest in JSPS programs.
