On January 18, JSPS Bangkok Office visited Thaksin University and organized a JSPS guidance seminar, which is the second seminar since 2015, as a part of \u201cJapan Education Fair\u201d hosted by the Embassy of Japan in Thailand. The university is one of the national universities in southern area of Thailand and has 2 campuses, departments of humanities and social science is located in the Songlar campus that we visited this time, on the other hand, natural science related departments in Phattalung campus.<\/p>\n

Before the seminar, the Japan embassy and Japanese delegate including Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) and 4 universities (Osaka University, Kyoto University, Tokai University and Fukui University of Technology) introduced their institutions in the fair, and many students who are interested in studying in Japan participated.

First of the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Kasem Asawatreratanakul, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research of Thaksin University, delivered opening address, followed by introduction of JSPS\u2019s outline and international programs by JSPS Bangkok office.

Assoc. Prof. Kasem, who majors in biochemistry and obtained his PhD from Tohoku University through RONPAKU program, also made presentation about his research in Japan. Assoc. Prof. Kasem introduced the program\u2019s benefits and life in Japan and also mentioned that he still kept collaboration with Japan and his host researcher who had already retired.

In Q&A session, the participants asked questions such as how to find Japanese host researcher and how to get the first contact to him\/her, for which Assoc. Prof. Kasem gave advice in addition to answer from JSPS Bangkok Office.
