On 19 November, JSPS Bangkok Office organized a JSPS guidance seminar at STIKOM Bali. The seminar was co-hosted by Udayana University, where we had organized the seminar in 2014, and STIKOM Bali, and there were more than 40 participants including researchers from neighboring universities, mainly young researchers.<\/p>\n

The seminar started with an opening address by Prof. Dr. I Gede Putu Wirawan, Udayana University, followed by the presentation of JSPS\u2019s outline by Prof. Kuniaki Yamashita, Director of JSPS Bangkok Office, and the introduction of its international programs by Ms. Noriko Furuya, Deputy Director, and Mr. Toshio Ohta, International Program Associate.

And then, Prof. Dr. Anak Agung Ayu Mirah Adi, Udayana University, who obtained her PhD at University of Tokyo through JSPS RONPAKU (Dissertation PhD) Program and was also involved in Core-to-Core program, introduced her experience in the programs. As some of participants were undergraduate students, Prof. Dr. Mirah spoke in Indonesian, which helped their understanding.

In the Q&A session, we accepted questions spoken in Indonesian, and Dr. I Gede Putu Wirarama Wedashwara Wirawan, STIKOM Bali, a moderator of the seminar, also served as a translator. Dr. Wirarama, who obtained his PhD at Yamaguchi University, translated our answers into Indonesian and added his experience in Japan.

Last of all, Prof. Dr. Wirawan delivered a closing address again. There was one of questions from participants whether it was possible to find Japanese host researchers based on their own research theme or not although there was a gap in academic level between Japan and Indonesia. To the question, Prof. Dr. Wirawan gave an advice that widening the intended fields helped them find Japanese host researchers.
