On June 17 2014, JSPS Bangkok Office held a guidance seminar at Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen Campus.
The university originally consisted of four faculties; agriculture, forestry, fishery and legal and economics when it has been established 70 years ago. Now, their research and education in the field of agriculture and forestry is internationally highly recognized and became 48th in QS University Rankings by Subjects 2014. Many Japanese universities also jointly conduct agricultural and forestry research with Kasetsart University and more than five projects of them are implemented under the support of JSPS international programs.
More than 20 young researchers participated in the guidance seminar. JSPS Bangkok office explained international programs and Dr. Suratwadee Jiwajinda, an executive committee member of JSPS Alumni Association of Thailand, who obtained doctoral degree from Kyoto University under the support of JSPS RONPAKU program, explained application procedure and form of RONPAKU program.
Participants questioned about how to find a Japanese host researcher and what academic achievements are valued in the screening procedure. JSPS Bangkok office advised them to make use of researcher database openly available on Japanese universities’ webpages and to publish a number of academic papers.
