On March 3, JSPS Bangkok Office organized a JSPS guidance seminar at Thammasat University.
The seminar was kicked off with the opening address by Prof. Dr. Pramuan Tapchaisri, Vice Rector for Research Affairs, followed by presentation on JSPS’s outline and international programs by JSPS Bangkok Office.
Afterwards, Asst. Prof. Dr. Chatchai Marnadee, Mechanical Engineering Department, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Duangjai Lorthanavanich, Thammasat Business School, both of who experienced in JSPS program, made presentations.
Dr. Chatchai, who majors in Agricultural Engineering and obtained his PhD at Kobe University under RONPAKU program, introduced his experience such as application process and research activities in Japan.
On the other hand, Dr. Duangjai, who carried out her research on management of world heritage at Kyoto University under Invitation Fellowship program (Long term), explained her activities in Japan with using pictures.
There were some 30 participants, mainly students and young researchers, and they asked questions about requirements for application and its process.
After the seminar, we visited Dr. Jitti Mongkolnchaiarunya, Dean of Puey Ungphakorn School of Development Studies, Thammasat University. Dr. Jitti introduced the projects that he is involved in, such as a new PhD program starting this summer and a newly established demonstration preschool. We also discussed the seminar under the theme of “Revitalizing Rural Development for Poverty Eradication in Asia” to be held in this summer.
