The 3rd JSPS Alumni Association of the Philippines (JAAP) General Assembly

On 27 July, JSPS Alumni Association of the the Philippines (JAAP) convened its 3rd General Assembly following to the scientific symposium and JSPS program briefing at SMX Convention Center, Pasay City, Philippines.

JSPS Alumni Association of the Philippines (JAAP) was established as the 14th official JSPS Alumni Association in November, 2013. The DOST-JSPS Society of the Philippines RONPAKU Fellows (PRF) was started its activities in July, 2005 under the Philippines Department of Science and Technology (DOST) support as the forerunner of the new alumni association. With the suggestions of JSPS Bangkok Office, PRF recruited other JSPS alumni members and renamed into JAAP.

Dr. Jaime C. Montoya, president of JAAP reported JAAP activities such as the result of Bridge Fellowship nomination for FY2015, opening association’s bank account, participation in National Science and Technology Week (NSTW), and collaboration with other Japanese alumni associations to join the event at Japanese ambassador’s residence.

Dr. Montoya also touched upon the their future activities such as membership directory update, organizing JSPS program briefing at Central Luson State University in August, and implementation community based projects.

Following the reports, Dr. Montoya and Mr. Kazunori Higuchi, head of Overseas Fellows Division of JSPS headquarters gave JSPS Alumni badge to the new JAAP members.
