On July 3rd, 2015, JSPS Bangkok Office held JSPS Guidance Seminar at Salaya and Phayathai Campus, Mahidol University, Thailand. Mahidol University, one of the nine core research universities in Thailand, is highly valued in the field of Medicine and ranked among top 100 universities in the QS World University Rankings by subject.
In the morning seminar held in Salaya campus, JSPS gave an overview of its organization and provided information on the international programs. Then two former JSPS fellows from Mahidol University, Assistant Prof. Dr. Wichet Leelamaniat, Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, who joined Core University Program, and Lecturer Dr. Kittiphong Paiboonsukwong, Thalassemia Research Center, Institute of Molecular Biosciences, who conducted research in Saitama Medical University under Postdoc Fellowship Program introduced their research activities and experience in Japan.
Afternoon seminar in Phayathai Campus, located near the center of Bangkok, was convened with nearly 50 participants not only from Mahidol university but also from other universities in the area. Followed by the opening remark by Prof. Pimchai Chaiyen, Deputy Dean for Research, Faculty of Science, JSPS introduced its activities and international programs and Dr. Wichet gave a talk about his research experience in Japan.
During Q&A session, questions were raised about the eligibility of applicants, the concept of Core-to-Core program and Dr. Wichet’s research experience in Japan.
