【目的】
This webinar aims to promote research collaboration and young researchers’ involvement between Thailand and Japan in Chemical Engineering and related fields.
Researchers in Thailand and Japan have been conducting strong and steady collaborations for over three to four generations through bilateral / multilateral projects, student exchange and double degree programs. Especially in chemical engineering field, it has now developed into a multi-generational exchange and collaboration through such as Japan-ASEAN Science, Technology, and Innovation Platform (JASTIP) and Japan-Thailand SATREPS Projects from the first generation of person-to-person relationship that existed for more than 40 years. Over the programs, under the supervisors’ guidance, PhD students and postdocs from both countries collected samples together, conducted experiments on site, analyzed data and wrote co-authored papers. Such face-to-face collaboration have contributed to tackle with pressing issues in sustainable energy and environment on the global scale.
However, the corona pandemic has restricted physical travels of a researcher to another research institute in a different province/country. There is now a dramatic increase in the use of online tools, such as Zoom for communication between researchers. While the widespread use of online tool has brought about significant benefits in terms of speed and ease of communication in academic exchanges, there is also a growing awareness that online tools alone cannot compensate for the physical communication. Lesson learnt from experienced academia and administrators would be worthwhile and useful for participants and the public to adapt in the volatile situation of future pandemic.
