JSPS Alumni Association Malaysia (JAAM) held the JAAM-JSPS-ASM Symposium (Webinar)

On 14th September 2020, JSPS Alumni Association Malaysia (JAAM), JSPS Bangkok Office and Academy of Science Malaysia co-organized the JAAM-JSPS-ASM Symposium (Webinar) entitled “Dynamics, Diversity & Future Research -Bridging Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Researcher from Japan and Malaysia-“.

This Symposium was started with an introduction by Dr. Abe Woo Sau Pinn, Assistant Secretary of JAAM followed by the introduction of speakers by Prof. Dr. Noorsaadah Abd Rahman, FASc Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), University of Malaya.

After the introduction of speakers, Prof. Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail, FASc, President of Academy of Science Malysia made a keynote presentation entitled “Post-COVID Economic Recovery Plan via Impact-driven Research: Malasian 10-10 Science, Technology, Innovation and Economy Framework”.

Following Prof. Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail, Prof. Dr. Tadashi Isa, Advanced Study of Human Biology (WPI-ASHBi), Kyoto University made a second keynote presentation entitled “The Goal of the New WPI Institute of Kyoto University, WPI_ASHBi”.

Following Prof. Dr. Tadashi Isa, Prof. Dr. Hiroshi Suito, Advanced Institute for Materials Research (WPI-AIMR), Tohoku University made a third keynote presentation entitled “Research Activities in WPI-AIMR – Mathematics Collaborating with Material, Environmental and Medical Sciences”.

For this symposium, about 50 participants attended and many questions were raised after their presentations.

Finally, Prof. Yoshio Otani, Director of JSPS Bangkok Office, delivered remarks followed by the closing remarks by Dr. Abe Woo Sau Pinn, Assistant Secretary of JAAM, thanking everyone involved in this symposium.
