JSPS guidance seminar was held at Thammasat University

On 29 June 2018, the JSPS Bangkok Office organized JSPS guidance seminar at Thammasat University Rangsit campus. Thammasat University is a national university which has the 2nd longest history in Thailand since its establishment in 1934. Rangsit campus is located in Pathum Thani Province which is in the north of Bangkok.

Mrs. Pornpimon Boonsiri (Director, Research Administration Division) kindly gave us a welcome address at the beginning of the seminar. In our presentation, Deputy Director Mr. Tomiyama explained the mission of JSPS and the role of its overseas offices. Afterwards, International Program Associates Mr. Niihara and Ms. Minowa introduced JSPS’s international programs which aim to promote researcher and knowledge exchange between Thailand-Japan.

Two former JSPS fellows at Thammasat Univ. gave special speeches for the participants.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Chatchai Marnadee (Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering) obtained PhD. degree at Kobe University under RONPAKU program. His speech included many important information such as application procedure and how he found his host researcher in Japan.

Dr. Duangjai Lorthanavanich (Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Thammasat Business School) has a research experience at Kyoto University through JSPS Invitational Fellowships for Research in Japan (Long-term). Her research during in Japan was about tourism management especially at Kumano Kodō, a World Heritage site in Japan. She presented her experience with plenty of tips for the participants in the guidance seminar.
